CAPE BUFFALO DARTING
Take part in a rare conservation activity supporting the restoration of natural herd dynamics and a truly wild landscape.
RESTORING THE WILD
At Maloba Private Game Reserve, Cape buffalo darting plays an important role in the ongoing rewilding of the land. During this unique experience, guests join our rangers, veterinarians, and support team as selected buffalo are safely darted for essential conservation work.
The primary purpose of these operations is to remove old ear tags from earlier farming practices, allowing the animals to return to a more natural state. By reducing human markers and interference, we help restore natural herd behaviour and support the long-term health of the ecosystem.
Each procedure is carefully planned and carried out by experienced professionals, with the welfare of the animal as the highest priority.
A RARE BEHIND-THE-SCENES EXPERIENCE
Buffalo darting is offered only when required and is therefore a rare opportunity to witness conservation in action. Participation is limited to a small number of guests to ensure a safe, respectful, and well-managed experience.
This activity provides a deeper understanding of the work involved in transforming former farmland into a functioning wild landscape. By taking part, guests directly support Maloba’s long-term vision of restoring natural systems and creating a self-sustaining reserve.
Subject to operational needs, seasonal conditions, and availability.
