OCTOBER 2025 AT MALOBA
Maloba Private Game Reserve
OCTOBER 2025 AT MALOBA
October arrived with warmer mornings and by midday the air shimmered with heat. The bush felt alive in a new way, full of movement and sound. With the steady warmer weather, snakes began to appear more frequently, gliding across the red sandy paths as well as basking in the sun after the coolness of winter. Many other animals could also be seen enjoying the warmth, taking time to sunbathe in the early hours of the day.
This month was also very important for the conservation foundation of Maloba. Thanks to the generous donations of our guests, we were able to carry out several rhino darting operations to replace old GPS collars. These collars are vital tools that allow us to keep track of our rhino population and ensure their continued safety. Being part of these operations is an incredible feeling, standing close to such powerful, ancient animals while working to protect them and to keep the species safe.

The team moved carefully and efficiently, each darting is a mix of science, teamwork, and respect. Watching a rhino wake again and move off calmly into the bush, collar secured, is one of those moments that stays with you forever, a success in the ongoing effort to keep them safe.
As the days grow hotter and the daylights longer, October reminds us how closely we are all tied to the rhythm of this land, and how much can be achieved when people and wildlife share a purpose.
