ABOUT MALOBA
The Perridon’s story and our vision
THE PERRIDON’S STORY
Maloba began with a shared vision between father and son.
A dream to return a piece of Africa to what it once was: pure, untouched and in balance with nature. The day before yesterday.
For the Perridon family, Africa has always held a special meaning. From this connection grew the desire to create a place where nature would once again have the time and space to recover, and where guests could experience Africa in its most authentic form.
The first step was not building a lodge, but restoring the land itself. Several neighbouring agricultural properties were brought together and gradually returned to their original ecosystem. By investing in soil regeneration, indigenous vegetation, water sources and safe habitats for wildlife, the landscape slowly recovered and wildlife began to return.
From the beginning, the local community has been an important part of Maloba’s story. The reserve creates employment opportunities and invests in training and development across hospitality, guiding, farming and conservation, building both a strong team and opportunities for future generations.
What began as a restoration project has grown into a private wilderness of more than 20,000 hectares in the Upper Kalahari. Only once the land had recovered did the idea arise to share this remarkable place.
Maloba was intentionally designed to remain intimate and exclusive. With only five private suites and the Farm House, a maximum of 18 guests can experience the reserve at any one time, ensuring space, tranquility and complete privacy.
Maloba is more than a lodge.
It is the realization of a dream, a place where nature, exclusivity and experience come together.
A place where Africa can still be experienced as it once was.
ABOUT MALOBA TODAY
Today, Maloba offers a deeply personal and fully tailored safari experience. With no fixed program or schedule, guests set the rhythm of their stay — from the timing of game drives to how they choose to spend their days. With only a small number of guests in the reserve at any time, Maloba ensures complete privacy, personal attention and an uncrowded experience in the vast wilderness of the Upper Kalahari.
Relaxation and wellbeing are central to the Maloba experience. Guests can unwind by the private pool of their suite, enjoy a massage in complete privacy, or take part in personal training or yoga overlooking the landscape. Gastronomy also plays an important role through the unique Farm & Gardens concept, where fresh seasonal ingredients from the land are transformed into refined cuisine and fine dining in the lodge.
While safari remains at the heart of every stay, Maloba offers far more than traditional game drives. Guests can explore the reserve on horseback, discover the landscape from the air during a helicopter safari, practice shooting with the rangers, or participate in conservation activities through the Maloba Foundation. Everything at Maloba is designed to offer a seamless, highly personalised experience where Africa can be enjoyed at your own pace.
